經過多年對 Michael Kors 的抗議後，品牌終於「妥協」， PETA （全名：People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals）日前宣布品牌終於停止使用動物皮草，而品牌前陣子收購的英國鞋履品牌 Jimmy Choo 亦同時停止使用相關物料。

PETA 抗爭者一直在 Michael Kors 的時裝騷和專門店抗議，且絕非數星期前所發生的事。早於六月時，保護動物權益的團體在紐約 Metropolitan Museum of Art 中， Michael Kors 與 Alina Cho 的問答環節期間引起一陣騷動。另外，在其中一場時裝騷中，近 20 名示威者一度大呼小叫，在 Grace Rainey Rogers 的禮堂走廊上製造模仿動物的噪音，更高舉寫着粗言穢語的標語 “F!!k FUR” ，抬上天橋。 設計師 Michael Kors 與其丈夫兼品牌 CEO 隨即從後門離開 front-row。

Michael Kors 的 CEO John Idol 確認品牌將會由 2018 年的 12 月起停止使用任何動物的皮草，創意總監本尊亦補充，指出品牌現在有能力創造一些高質量的仿動物皮草。這些新研發的物料將發布於即將舉行的 New York Fashion Week Fall 2018。

Gucci A/W 2017 Campaign

Michael Kors 是第二個推行停用動物皮草的主要設計師；Gucci 早於十月推行類似計劃，為品牌寫上重要的里程碑； Stella McCartney 一直棄用動物皮革和皮草，自行研發代替物料，在創新科技創作方面有一定的堅持，近日更在 The Fashion Awards 上勇奪創新科技獎。
 
由此可見，可持續發展實屬時裝界大勢所趨。其實，消費者在此亦有一定的責任，不知道未來的我們，會不會活於一個對大自然生態作出零傷害的未來呢？何不今天起共同為我們的家園努力，哪怕是買少一件由聚酯纖維所造的衣服，已能為海洋生物帶來更好的生活環境了。
